Dean’s Charrette

About the Charrette

The College of Design hosted the Dean’s Charrette on the Future of Design Education with 36 students from all of our departments considering what the future of design education will be like, and what changes may need to be made to the college to accommodate those activities. We appreciate the hard work, enthusiasm and creativity of all six student teams, the thoughtful conversations and the ideas they generated during this exciting weekend-long event, held Jan. 24–26 in the King Pavilion.

We also extend our thanks to the CannonDesign team and College of Design faculty and staff who served as panelists, facilitators, mentors, organizers and reviewers for your selfless investment in our students’ education and the future of our disciplines.

Two student teams – Queen Pavilion and Interface — will travel to Chicago Feb. 12 for a second charrette with CannonDesign, the firm we’re working with on a space analysis of the college. This will be an opportunity to continue discussion of the issues identified during the charrette. The work generated by all of the student teams is on display in the Pickard Chilton Gallery (main hallway through the King Pavilion), and on our website. Thanks again to all who participated!
