AMES, Iowa — Iowa State University seniors majoring in integrated studio arts will showcase their work in the annual Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibition March 31 through April 12 in the ISU College of Design's Gallery 181.
"Of More Than Ordinary Significance" will feature work by 23 students who will graduate with a BFA in integrated studio arts from Iowa State in 2016 (May, August or December). Each graduating senior selected a collection of his/her own work that most strongly represented her/his time in the degree program.
Inspired by the definition of art, the exhibition title is intended to broaden the contemporary characterization of fine artists in the real world, said integrated studio arts senior Samantha Bedford of Carroll. Bedford and her classmates are enrolled in the spring-semester ArtIS 499: Senior Seminar/Exhibition course taught by Joe Muench, associate professor of art and visual culture. Associate Professor Chris Martin is helping the students coordinate the gallery installation.
Gallery hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 9, with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. April 9. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
