Design students win Art Inspired exhibit awards

AMES, Iowa — Seven students from the Iowa State University College of Design won awards in the Art Inspired Student Juried Exhibit on view through March 10 in the Iowa State Memorial Union Pioneer Room.
Juried by Des Moines sculptor Rachel Buse, the exhibition features 36 artworks by 27 ISU students majoring in architecture, biological/pre-medical illustration, graphic design, integrated studio arts, integrated visual arts and landscape architecture.
Award winners include:
- Best of Show: "Spline," Eric Rolek, Waukee, Iowa, senior in integrated studio arts
- Merit: "Fearful Slumber," Emerald Klauer, Davenport, senior in graphic design
- Merit: "Blue Print of Earth," Chase McFarlane, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, senior in integrated studio arts
- Merit: "Sweet Potato #10," Kyle Renell, Ames, Iowa, postbaccalaureate certificate in integrated studio arts
- Honorable Mention: "Little Black Dress," Paige Behrens, New Sharon, Iowa, senior in graphic design
- Honorable Mention: "Soul Searching," David Chadd, Coggon, Iowa, junior in integrated studio arts
- Purchase Award: "Ocotillo Cactus," Alexis Dwyer, Columbia, Mo., graduate student in integrated visual arts
Dwyer's work will become part of the Memorial Union's permanent collection.
