AMES, Iowa — Four integrated studio arts faculty members and one student from the Iowa State University College of Design brought home a majority of the awards presented Friday, Jan. 24, at the opening reception for the 46th National Clay, Fiber, Paper, Glass, Metal, Wood Exhibition at the Octagon Center for the Arts in Ames.

Associate Professor Teresa Paschke won the Winifred V. Brown Best of Show award for her "Hip Hop Sampler" (inkjet printed on linen with embroidery); Associate Professor Chris Martin took first place with his "Tribal Stool" (industrial felt and waxed thread); and Senior Lecturer Jennifer Drinkwater received second place for her painting titled "Bridging the Gap" (oil and acrylic on wood).

Associate Professor Joe Muench was awarded on honorary mention for "Yield" (handformed, fabricated steel, brass and paint) and senior Omar Ibrahim, Coralville, Iowa, also received an honorary mention for "Xiujian's Lines" (Photoshop, digital sketching).

The exhibition features 65 works of original art created by 64 artists representing 11 U.S. states. Submissions were juried by Christina Chang, curator of engagement at the Minnesota Museum of American Art in St. Paul. The show runs through April 5 in the Main and Sweeney Galleries on the third floor of the Octagon.
