Tim Tobin
My name is Tim Tobin, and I am entering the Community and Regional Planning department as a graduate student this fall. I completed part of my undergraduate studies at DMACC and finished the rest at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. During my time at Northeastern I served as a member of the Green Conservation Group and served as the chair of the Green Fee Committee for a yearly cycle. This committee was responsible for deciding how to spend each student’s semesterly “green” fee of three dollars. This is a unique and innovate idea that I think has great potential at universities worldwide. In the summer of 2020, I began the GIS graduate certificate at ISU and completed it the following year. I am passionate about the environment and the health of the people. My dream is for the everyday person to be educated and empowered to make responsible decisions for themselves and their communities. If I am not working on graduate studies, chances are I am enjoying a variety of music, playing video games, or going for walks in my neighborhood and other outdoor places I enjoy around Iowa. I have been to Japan twice and thoroughly enjoy experiencing other cultures in an authentic, respectful manner. I look forward to meeting and working with everyone that belongs to the Iowa State University community.
