Adams awarded MacDowell Colony Fellowship for book project

Ross Adams, assistant professor of architecture at Iowa State University, has been awarded a MacDowell Colony Fellowship from May 8 through June 15 to work on a new book project, provisionally titled “Nomos of the Body.” Adams will use his residency at the artists’ colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire, “to open a historically grounded exploration of architecture, space and power that can also critically question the status of subjectivity in contemporary and emergent urban spaces,” he said in his application. “Drawing on an archive of historical depictions of the body, from architectural, aesthetic, anatomical, political and theological discourses, this project looks to the body as a lens through which to frame changing relations between spatial order and political form.”
