Graduate Program
Overview
In 2018, Iowa State University’s Graduate Program in Interior Design ranked 9th in the nation in the areas of sustainable built environments, adaptive design, and resilient design. It ranked 10th nationally in interdisciplinary studies and healthy built environments. In an additional ranking, Iowa State University’s Graduate and Undergraduate Interior Design Programs ranked No. 2 in the “Most Hired From” category. In 2017, the graduate program also ranked 9th nationally.
The Graduate Program in the Department of Interior Design offers a Master of Fine Arts (MFA), Master of Arts (MA), interdisciplinary dual degrees (MA-MArch), and concurrent undergraduate/graduate degrees (MA). As part of a collaborative interdepartmental graduate program, it also offers a Ph.D. in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) with the home department and co-major professor in Interior Design. The program greatly values cultural diversity and inclusiveness and seeks students who desire to become global leaders in design.
