About our BFA

Iowa State’s dedicated Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design is a four-year degree consisting of one year in the College of Design’s Core Design Program, followed by three years in the professional BFA degree program. Our undergraduate graphic design program annually admits 80 students into the professional program after completion of the foundation-year Core experience.

We’re proud to be the only public BFA in Graphic Design in the state of Iowa and a top ranked program nationally. Our program combines both traditional and new graphic design media, providing you with a wide range of in-demand skills upon graduation.

The BFA degree in Graphic Design from Iowa State provides the foundation for a career in the visual communication profession and 100% of our graduates are employed or continuing their education within six months of graduating.
