Culture & Diversity
The College of Design is a diverse, vibrant and eclectic community that strives for inclusive excellence. This community values innovation, curiosity, collaboration, open exchange of ideas, diverse perspectives, and environmental and social responsibility.
In concert with Iowa State University’s 2017-22 Strategic Plan, one of the college’s top goals is to promote a collegiate culture that nurtures the success and well-being of students, staff and faculty. Toward that end, we actively seek to create a safe and welcoming environment for all faculty, staff and students. Assaulting, bullying, harassing and isolating people because of their identity, beliefs, appearance, educational attainment, field of study, etc., are unacceptable and contrary to the college’s values and goals. We are a community that embraces difference and thrives on the rich tapestry of diverse identities. Be empowered and empower others to create effectual change in the world by embracing, not denigrating difference.
