Output (Printers)

3D Printing

The Output Center currently has two 3D printers, a Stratasys F170 and a FormLabs Form 3.

Stratasys F170
 – Our Stratasys F170 FDM 3D Printer, located in 426 Design, uses a two-part plastic to create models in an 12″ x 12″ x 12″ envelope and prints high resolution, high-quality parts. Models are submitted in STL file format, then output one layer at a time using the two materials to create the model and support areas.

FormLabs Form 3: The Form 3 SLA 3D printer is a high end printer capable of extreme detail in a variety of materials. SLA printers use a laser to cure liquid resin into hardened plastic in a process called photopolymerization.

Please go to https://go.iastate.edu/LYW1C1 to submit your files.  This page will ask you questions about the print including what printer to use and then allow tyou to upload an STL file.  Our fabrication manager will then contact you about the price and the time-frame before it is printed.
