Undergraduate Students
Honors Program
Each College of Design student will have different educational, career and life goals. Therefore, each Honors Program of Study (POS) will be different. A 3.50 ISU cumulative GPA must also be maintained to keep Honors status.
It is important that you comply with the accreditation standards of your degree program, but beyond that, you are welcome to propose changes and substitutions that will help you achieve your goals. Approval of these changes is at the discretion of your academic adviser and the faculty members in your curriculum.
Program of Study (POS) Requirements
DEADLINE: no later than Sept. 21 or Feb. 21 at least four semesters prior to graduating
Honors requirements for the POS include:
- A minimum of two honors seminars (HON 321/322). Students are encouraged to take as many honors seminars as possible, dictated by interest and time constraints.
- A minimum of two honors courses (courses with an H designation) beyond ENGL 250H. Any course can become an honors course with the instructor’s permission. Simply request that you take the course for honors credit and discuss with your instructor possible additional components that might be completed to justify the change in course designation.
- Each program must also include an additional course for the Honors Project. This course must be at least three (3) credits. It can be either a departmental independent study or a studio course. Note: if you plan to take DSN S 546 for your project, please speak with the Honors Academic Adviser (see contact at the bottom of the page).
- Download and use the College of Design’s Honors Program of Study form
- After obtaining all the required signatures, please submit forms to the Honors Academic Adviser, in room 291 or 297 Design, for submission to University Honors.
NOTE: This form MUST be submitted no later than Sept. 21 or Feb. 21 at least four semesters prior to graduating.
