Assistantships & Funding

Quarter-time departmental graduate assistantships (GAs) may be offered to our highly qualified students. In exchange for 10 hours of work per week in a teaching, research, or administrative role, graduate assistants receive:

• Iowa resident tuition rates
• A 25-50% tuition scholarship
• Monthly stipend
• Health insurance coverage
• A reduction in some student fees

It is the intention of our programs to allow students to keep their assistantship throughout the duration of their program, once awarded, as long as the student is progressing successfully through the program and as long as budgets permit.

Students who are not awarded a departmental assistantship may choose to seek out assistantship opportunities elsewhere on campus. For guidance with finding assistantships outside of the College of Design, please contact Anne Grevstad-Nordbrock.
