All requests to post or relay opportunities should be forwarded to Design Career Services for assistance in posting. Instructions for employer can also be found here. Use of CyHire also ensures employers recruiting ISU students are committed to following Iowa State University’s Discrimination and Harassment Policy.
Career Fairs & Events
- Design Career Fair

Design Career Services coordinates events to facilitate connections with employers including a large fair each spring semester typically hosts 250+ contacts representing 100+ firms and organizations. We typically welcome more than 100 alumni back to campus as firm representatives. Please encourage students to participate, and please consider stopping by to greet our alumni. A reception with firm representatives is held following in-person fairs, and all faculty and staff are welcome. See participants here. - Design Conversations & Connections
Fall 2023 (date tbd), College of Design
This new event is casual networking and resource fair designed to facilitate conversations about opportunities, introduce students to career-related resources and work-related topics, facilitate connections, and encourage career exploration. - Other ISU career fairs
Design Career Services partners with colleagues across campus and the Big 12 to offer the Big 12 virtual career fair. There are opportunities for design students at most ISU career fairs hosted by other colleges.
Legal and Ethical Issues in Recruiting
Requests for student referrals or names of excellent students may seem harmless, but there are potential legal and ethical pitfalls. For more information, please read A Faculty Guide to Ethical and Legal Standards in Student Hiring and Tips for Providing References, published by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
Reporting Discrimination or Harassment
Faculty and staff are “Responsible Employees” and obligated to report concerns to ISU’s Office of Equal Opportunity. This includes conduct by employers engaged in recruiting and issues that occur during internships.
Class Presentations
