AMES, Iowa — "Accumulating Light," a solo exhibition of photography by Ames artist and Iowa State University alumnus Nick Muhlbauer, will be on display March 13-29 at the ISU College of Design’s Design on Main Gallery, 203 Main St. in downtown Ames.
Exhibition hours will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturdays. An open house will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 21, with an artist's talk at 7:30 p.m.
In his presentation, Muhlbauer will provide an introduction to his portrait and nature photography and share the inspiration and motivation for his work. The exhibition and event are free and open to the public.
Muhlbauer graduated with a bachelor of fine arts in integrated studio arts from Iowa State in December 2013. "Burning Off the Fog" (shown above), a landscape photograph he created as a student, was named a college finalist in Photographer's Forum magazine's 34th Annual College and High School Photography Contest. It will be published in the hardcover Best of College and High School Photography 2014.
