Thursday, January 5: Arrive in Rome

Participants for the program book their own airline tickets. You should plan to arrive on January 5 only. January 6 is a major holiday in Rome and most places will be closed, including the housing office, stores and restaurants. The housing office is also not open on the weekend.

You should schedule a flight that arrives in Rome before noon (arrival at some point between 8 and 10 am would be ideal) on January 5 so you will have sufficient time to go to the housing office for check-in and the opportunity in the afternoon to purchase food for the weekend. Housing office hours for check-in are 9 am to 4 pm on January 5 only.

Relax and adjust to the new time zone on Friday, then spend some time exploring the city over the weekend before classes start.  Plan to stay in Rome rather than scheduling a trip over the weekend.

Monday, January 9: Required studio orientation in the morning; classes begin in the afternoon

Monday-Friday, March 12-16: Spring Break

Monday, April 30: Departures from Rome can begin

Additional field trip dates during the semester will be announced later in summer or fall 2011. Please do not book weekend trips until the confirmed field trip dates are announced.
