This one-day event provides budding artists and designers with an introduction to design principles and studio culture. Through hands-on activities led by faculty members from the ISU College of Design at each location, you will experiment with both two- and three-dimensional media. Over lunch, you will participate in a question-answer session with local artists and design practitioners to learn what they do and what kinds of experiences can help you pursue a career in a range of art and design disciplines. After critique and revision, you will share your work from 3 to 4 p.m. in an exhibit open to families and teachers.

Explore Design! is open to 25 students currently in sixth, seventh or eight grade (entering seventh, eighth or ninth grade in fall 2013). Three scholarships are available for students to attend free of charge! If you're interested, fill out an application form and return it to your art teacher or guidance counselor. The teacher or counselor should provide a brief statement of support where indicated, sign the form and send it to:
