Intertwine is a community-wide effort to yarn-bomb the facade of Design on Main, a more than 130-year-old, two-story building located within the Main Street Cultural District in downtown Ames, Iowa. Design on Main is a satellite facility that connects Iowa State University’s College of Design with the greater Ames community.
For the month of May 2016, the entire front facade of this building will be covered in a giant multicolored “quilt” created by stitching together thousands of 1-foot-square knitted and crocheted panels submitted by people like you. Inside Design on Main Gallery will be an exhibition dedicated to the project and all its participants. After the installation ends, the panels will be professionally cleaned, fashioned into blankets, and donated to homeless and women’s shelters in the Ames area.
