The Iowa Chapter AIA and the National AIA have joined together to provide financial assistance to architecture students.
$1000 minimum tuition credit. Amount and number of awards vary based upon available funds. Open to students who have completed their Core year and have been accepted into the undergraduate architecture professional program or who are currently enrolled in the architecture professional program. The recipient is to be in good academic standing and a U.S. citizen. Preference is given to applicants belonging to an under-represented U.S. ethnic group and to applicants who are residents of Iowa.

Archer Daniels Midland Company Scholarship
College of Design
ADM and FFA partner to offer up to $160,000 in scholarships that support FFA members enrolling in a two or four year college or university.
Non-renewable scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded to each applicant who is a current or former FFA member, full-time student attending two or four year college or university.
Recipients are selected based on academic achievement and extracurricular involvement.

Arvid and Gayle Osterberg Design Scholarship Application Deadline: Feb 15, 2012

Eligibility
The $1000 award will be given to a graduate or undergraduate student majoring in
Architecture (in even years) and shall be given to a graduate or undergraduate student
majoring in any discipline within the College of Design (in odd years). The award may be renewable at the discretion of the College of Design Honors and Awards Board.

2. In a single pdf document, submit 1-3 images of your work in the area of inclusive design with a short essay (500 words or less) that explains the
relevance of your work to inclusive design. Inclusive design is defined as, design for all people
regardless of physical or mental ability or age. Design should not discriminate
or disadvantage individuals or groups based on variations in age, size,
physical or mental ability, and ethic or cultural background.
Initial Selection
Based upon a review of the application information, the award will be made
by the College of Design Honors and Award Board. The primary criterion will be demonstrated
interest and commitment to the concept of inclusive design.
ASI Design Scholarship Application Deadline: Feb 15, 2012

The ASI Design Scholarship will be awarded to an Iowa resident, undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Architecture, Interior Design or Graphic Design. Selection is based on financial need (determined by FAFSA) with preference given to applicants doing work in architectural signage and wayfinding systems.
A FAFSA must be on file with the Student Financial Aid Office.
On the online application form, attach a 200-250 word essay demonstrating your interest and work in architectural signage and wayfinding.

AUID Scholarship Application Deadline: May 31, 2012
Interior Design
The Association of University Interior Designers (AUID) offers up to three $1,000 scholarships annually. An applicant must be a junior or senior undergraduate student, enrolled
full time in an AUID member university's interior design program by the end of spring term 2012. (Students who will have just graduated by the May 31 deadline are eligible to apply.) If
there is not an AUID member at your institution but you are interning with an AUID
member from another institution, you may apply. Previous winners of the AUID scholarship
cannot re-apply for two years after their initial award.
Applicants must submit ALL
of the following to the scholarship chairperson for their application to be
considered. Applications that are
missing any of these documents will not be considered.
A cover letter
introducing yourself and how you learned of the AUID organization.
A typed application
form or resume--listing work experience, honors/awards, extracurricular
activities, organization memberships and positions held, and any other
pertinent information.
A 500-word
essay/personal statement detailing your aspirations and goals for your
design degree.
A letter of
recommendation from either a present or former employer, a design
professional or a professor having direct knowledge of your academic and
work performance within your degree program. The recommendation letter must also be received by May 31.
Verification of your
undergraduate enrollment with an official transcript.
Selection criteria include essay review by scholarship committee members; academic achievement; extracurricular and community service activities; honors and awards received while enrolled in college; letter of recommendation.

Study Abroad, Interior Design
This scholarship is open to undergraduate students in the Interior Design Program who will be participating in the College of Design Rome Program. The Interior Design studio faculty shall be responsible for the selection of the recipient and for the distribution of funds. The ID studio faculty will review applications and select the recipient based on the information submitted by the applicant.
Announcement of recipient will be made by April 15. The actual monetary award will be presented the following fall semester toward the student's tuition.

Program Description
The College of Design Diversity Scholarship for First-Year Undergraduate Students seeks to increase the diversity of the design, art and planning professions from historically and currently underrepresented backgrounds in these fields. Incoming first-year undergraduate students who identify as Black, Native American, and Hispanic are especially encouraged to apply.
ISU defines diversity as that quality of its physical, social, cultural and intellectual environment which embraces the rich differences within the multiplicity of human expression and characteristics including: Age, Culture, Ethnicity, Gender Identification and Presentation, Language and Linguistic Ability, Physical Ability and Quality, Race, Religion, Sexual Orientation, and Socioeconomic Status.

The Design Diversity Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate student entering the College of Design and is a nonrenewable award of $2,500. The Iowa State University Women's Club annually recognizes the academic, personal and community accomplishments of Iowa State University upper class and graduate status women students through awards funded by the club and two former members. The number of awards and the amount of each award varies from year to year depending upon available funds. These awards are intended as an honor for personal achievement rather than financial need. A student is eligible for only one award.

This is a travel scholarship of at least $500, awarded to an undergraduate student in the College of Design planning to participate in the Rome program or other international study opportunity offered by the College of Design.
Application Requirements:
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 and have demonstrated financial need determined by the FAFSA on file with the Student Financial Aid Office.
A FAFSA must be on file with the Student Financial Aid Office.
On the online application form attach a 200-250 word essay on how the study abroad program relates to your educational goals. The scholarship committee makes its selection primarily on the basis of essay quality.

Catlin/David W. Long Memorial Scholarship serves to foster increased

The Wendy Marie Noteboom Ewell Scholarship has been established at Iowa State University for the benefit of qualifying art students. Wendy, age 30, died on July 8, 2005. She graduated from Iowa State in 1998 with a degree in biomedical illustration, studied at the Art Students League in New York City, and went on to establish a career as a successful painter. She exhibited her paintings widely throughout New York, Tucson, Ariz., and Michigan, receiving numerous awards and honors including a Special Opportunity Stipend from the New York Foundation for the Arts. Art and Design Excellence Scholarships for Minority Students
First Year Students, Interior Design, Art and Design, Graphic Design
This scholarship will NOT be offered for the academic year 2012-2013.
Awarded to freshmen, sophomore, junior or senior art and design student(s) of African-American, Hispanic American, or Native American descent who has (have) been in the department for at least one semester, is (are) making satisfactory progress toward a degree. Must show financial need. This scholarship is based dominantly on portfolio review of studio work.
Selection is made by the Scholarship and Awards Selection Committee. The selection committee will consist of four or more faculty members of the three program areas: Interior Design, Integrated Studio Arts, and Graphic Design. The Committee will review applications and get further financial aid information as appropriate to determine fiancial need of scholarship applicants.
Announcement of the scholarship recipient will be made to all applicants by letter. Formal announcement and presentation will be made to the recipient at the Minority Student Awards Banquet and on College of Design Awards Day. The actual monetary award will be presented the following fall semester, or fall/spring semesters, in application toward the student's tuition.
The Scholarship Selection Committee and the ID, GR, and ISA Program Directors reserves the right to not award this scholarship during any given year if it is deemed there are no applicants who successfully meet selection criteria.

Awarded to a full-time junior or senior student in interior design. Student receiving the scholarship must be completing their internship during the forthcoming summer in a major city and must show financial need. Awarded for summer internship expenses. Selection is made by the interior design faculty. Preferences will be given to someone interested in the city design market areas in using the internship experience to achieve maximum personal development. the student selected should show active and serious interest in Interior Design and future potential for professional achievement in this field.

If you apply for more than one art and design scholarship, you DO NOT need multiple copies of the Scholarships/Awards Recommendation Forms. Two recommendations from faculty members is all that is needed - thus, only two Scholarships/Awards Recommendation forms need to be submitted for your scholarship application.
Some scholarships require other materials to be submitted. Be sure to read each scholarship that you are applying for and know what you need to submit. Please submit a resume highlighting your extra curricular and volunteer activities, honors and awards received. Attach your resume to the Scholarship Application form.

This scholarship is open to undergraduate students in the Interior Design program with a preference given to students participating in the Rome or other international study abroad program. The Interior Design faculty shall be responsible for the selection of the recipient and for the distribution of funds. Recipient must show financial need - a FAFSA form must be on file with the Student Financial Add Office. Student grade point average needs to be 3.0 or higher. Applicant must demonstrate leadership ability through participation in campus and civic activities.
The actual monetary award will be presented the following fall semester, or fall/spring semesters, in application toward the student's tuition.

Up to eight $2,500 scholarships are awarded annually to fourth-year, fifth-year or graduate students enrolled in the Landscape Architecture curriculum at Iowa State University. Preference given to undergraduates, women and demonstrated financial need. No student may qualify for more than one BKLA Scholarship during undergraduate or graduate study at ISU.
